Camel Neck Decoration

Necklaces made of wool and felt were an important part of the wedding camel’s attire, contributing to the animal’s festive appearance. Many techniques were used to make these decorations – the most important being braiding, twisting, wrapping and looping – executed with great creative imagination. The intricate finger work involved in producing fringes and tassels, nets and braids is no longer practiced and in imminent danger of disappearing in many parts of Asia.
